American Corner Trieste
With over 700 Spaces in 140 countries worldwide, American Spaces provide welcoming environments where visitors can connect and learn about the United States through programs and lectures, as well as through books, movies, and magazines. Hosted in embassies, schools, libraries, and other partner institutions worldwide, American Spaces are platforms for providing information and engagement through activities, such as:
- Educational advising for those who want to study in the U.S.,
- Workshops on a range of topics from career skills to English language learning,
- Classes and clubs introducing new technologies, 21st century digital skills, and academic resources,
- Films, discussions, and lectures on entrepreneurship, leadership, current events, international affairs, and much more.
Information about the United States
American Spaces serve as portals to local audiences, providing accurate and up-to-date information about American society, culture, and values. Through multimedia collections, access to eLibraryUSA, and online resources, these spaces counter misinformation and promote a balanced understanding of the United States.
Networking with U.S. exchange program alumni
American Spaces maintain an active network of former exchange and study program participants in the United States. These alumni, like those from Fulbright Programs, share their experiences, attend events, and serve as mentors, strengthening ties between local communities and the United States.
America Cultural programs
Events hosted reflect American culture, including visual arts, cinema, literature, and music. The activities aim to engage the local audience and promote values such as democracy, civil rights, and entrepreneurship. We even offer the Trieste Ukulele Club!
English language teaching and learning
The American Corner offers free programs to improve language skills, including The English Conversation Club, the Women's Book Club and teacher workshops and seminars with the TESOL group. These initiatives aim to make English accessible to all.
Professional skills building
Programs in Skills Building aim to enhance participants’ skills in key areas such as technology, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Through workshops and collaborations with experts, American Spaces support professional and personal growth. Teen Maker Space is one of the activities that is offered.
Educational advising for study in the United States
Through EducationUSA and the Fulbright Program with informational materials, American Spaces provide advice on study opportunities in the United States and organizes information sessions, workshops and alumni meetings to assist interested students.
